Mai bine de 500 de critici de film și jurnaliști din întreaga lume au votat cel mai bun film și cel mai bun serial.
Ceremonia a avut premianți neașteptați, dar și absenți, cum ar fi Colin Farrell și Jamie Lee Curtis, care au rămas acasă după ce s-au îmbolnăvit de COVID-19.
Îndrăgita Michelle Pfeiffer l-a premiat pe Jeff Bridges pentru întreaga sa carieră cinematografică. Janelle Monáe a fost actrița care a primit trofeul pentru întreaga carieră, iar acesta i-a fost înmânat de Kate Hudson.
